Welcome to a new school year!

The first day of school is Monday, August 27.  We look forward to seeing all students return ready for a fantastic year.  We will follow our daily schedule beginning with the first day to help students acclimate to the school routine.  I ask that students take the bus to help with the summer-to-school transition. Also, as will be following our safety protocol and will not be able to verify every family and start the school day on time at 8:35 am, families will not be allowed to enter the building with their children.  I thank you for understanding as the safety of our students and staff is of the utmost importance to all of us. I am excited to share that we will be offering every student a free dessert on the first day.  Please do send the students with a lunch or money for lunch ($2.60 daily) or milk ($.35 daily.)  You may pay for the day or for the week, or go online through the website (https://schoolpaymentportal.com/Default.aspx) to create an account on the School Payment Portal and add money to your child’s online account.

Use the following link, Student Handbook, to begin to review school information and expectations as a family.  We have updated every page to reflect the current school year. Page one contains a sign-off sheet that will be sent home with students on the first day of school in  the student folder. Every student has a folder that will be sent home with important school information. Please check it daily and respond as requested. The family/school connection is very important at North Canaan Elementary School, and we will communicate with you regularly.  I ask that you sign the sheet and return it in your student’s folder the following day. I will be holding a school assembly on the first day and will answer any questions students have regarding their expectations as described in the handbook.

Please refer to the newly revised website, www.nceschool.org, for other up-to-date information throughout the year.  We will continue to update our website, seeking to provide you all you need to be an informed family.

Looking forward to seeing all students next Monday,

Dr. Alicia M. Roy
